New York, NY— Invensys Validation Technologies, a unit of Invensys Process Systems , demonstrated a new process analytical technology (PAT) solution for online moisture measurement and control at Interphex 2005 last week at the Jacob K. Javits Center. Developed in conjunction with Mathis Instruments, this comprehensive solution includes:
A patent-pending, Invensys-developed bypass system;
Mathis’ thermal effusivity sensor, which is based on the pending ASTM standard;
Integration to Invensys batch automation software or other existing control systems; and
Complete project implementation and regulatory compliance services using Invensys’ methodology.
Invensys reports its solution provides both a system for automated, online moisture monitoring during drying, and automated control of the fluidized bed dryer using proven technologies. It was designed to incorporate the principles and concepts of the new U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recent PAT guidance.
Effusivity provides clear advantages over other methods used to monitor the drying process. With effusivity, it takes only a few days to characterize a new product, which shortens development time. And, since the effusivity measurement is performed online and in real time, no modification to existing operational procedures are required. Also, no product is consumed.
‘By integrated Mathis effusivity sensors into a comprehensive analysis and automation solution, we can provide our mutual customers with a unique PAT solution that will help them inprove the quality and performance of their manufacturing processes,’ says Mark Cupryk, VP of Invensys Validation Technologies.
