Cognex Corp. (Natick, Mass.) introduced Checkpoint 900 Dual an integrated machine vision system consisting of an industrial PC and two Checkpoint 900 boards. Users can inspect twice the number of parts at one time or perform multiple grey-scale and color vision inspection tasks simultaneously.
Cutler-Hammer/Eaton ‘s (Columbus, O.) releases at the show included the DGATE-IM, which connects its power trip units and meters to DeviceNet. DPONI is mounted in power distribution equipment and connects to DeviceNet enabling users to make control decisions from meters and protective relays. Comet Perfect Prox is a two-wire, background rejection photoelectric sensor in an 18-mm tubular body.
Microtouch Systems (Methuen, Mass.) unveiled ToughTouch, a virtually shatterproof touchscreen. Microtouch laminates its ClearTek touch sensor to a layer of tempered glass similar to that used in automobiles.
Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee, Wis.) unveiled its new vision platform, Optix, a full-length PCI card for the PC platform. All vision processing occurs on the card—independent of the PC’s processor. The card supports two analog camera inputs with a variety of image processing tools.
Weidmuller ‘s (Richmond, Va.) WINbloc is a distributed I/O connection system that can be placed in remote factory areas where devices and actuators are located. WINbloc combines a broad range of I/O modules with support for such fieldbus networks as Profibus DP, Interbus, CANopen, and DeviceNet.
Phoenix Contact (Harrisburg, Pa.) showed its new solid state Electronic Load Relays (ELR). The ELR can switch up to 500 V ac at current of up to 9 A per phase. It can be used for inductive loads up to four kW or with resistive loads up to 7.5 kW. The four types of ELRs can be wired with individual terminations or ribbon cable connections in conjunction with Phoenix Contact PLC system cabling and Interbus.
Omron Electronics (Schaumburg, Ill.) exhibited a new series of highly flexible fiber optic cables. E32-R cables have a minimum bending radius of 1-mm. A bending angle of 908 is possible with no reduction in light transmission. Covered with soft PVC, the E32-R fibers can be cut to length.
Modicon Momentum from Schneider Automation (North Andover, Mass.) is a set of open architecture products including PLC and an I/O platform. Momentum supports all the major fieldbus networks, and the controller can serve as a master or as part of a distributed control architecture.
