Computers may be ordered as individual components or as a ”Computer Pack” with preloaded software. A Computer Pack that combines an MC Series computer and any of MEAU’s development software titles or MCWorx HMI/SCADA software will actually cost less than if all the components were ordered separately.
Trayton Jay, MEAU director of marketing, stated, ”We are excited to roll out this complete line of industrial PCs. This will enhance our ability to compete for the full business of our customers and potential customers. We expect to capture 12% of the IPC market within two years.”
MEAU has executed a purchase and supply agreement with AVG covering design, manufacture, sales and marketing of the computer line. AVG will design all products to MEAU’s specifications and be the sole manufacturer in the U.S. It will also provide the first line of technical support to MEAU’s customers and distributors.
Kris Davis, MEAU product manager and project team leader, noted, ”We investigated a number of potential suppliers. One of the important qualifications was the ability to obtain all the regulatory approvals and assure quality through HALT/HASS certification. In addition, AVG will design and manufacture to our specification assuring continuity of product over time, unlike the commercial PC market where components are changed frequently.”
Monty Fox, MEAU software product manager, previewed a new family of visualization and supervisory Control Software Products called MC WorX accompanying the industrial computer line is that can be scaled from full SCADA to PocketPC visualization.
MEAU will host a web site designed and maintained by AVG for distributors and customers to select products including ”Ready-to-use” pre-packaged solutions. Pre-packaged solutions arrive to the customer with all hardware and software components pre-installed and tested at AVG.
