Washington. D.C.— The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) www.nam.org is appealing to supporters to “make a difference in advocating for U.S. manufacturing.” The organization has set up an area of its Website to make it easier to learn about issues and participate more actively in the political process. NAM is asking manufacturers to:
-
https://www.nam.org/capitolhill .
-
E-mail media organizations about the importance of manufacturing at https://www.nam.org/contactmedia .
-
Sign up to participate in the “Coalition for the Future of Manufacturing,” which NAM says fights for policies that ensure a vibrant U.S. manufacturing base at https://www.nam.org/coalition .
-
Encourage people to vote at https://www.nam.org/p2 .
Jerry Jasinowski, NAM’s president, adds that people need to understand that manufacturing drives 60% of U.S. trade; connects with two-thirds of national research and development; creates the country’s highest-paying jobs; provides the best benefits; and is the nation’s economic growth engine. These were among NAM’s comments and initiatives at its booth and as part of a “Play Your Part” rally for American manufacturing during the recent National Manufacturing Week 2004 in Chicago.
