Two packaging automation standards groups (Make2Pack and OMAC Packaging Workgroup) will participate in Pack Expo Las Vegas 2005 and hold joint meetings to ensure efforts are complementary. OMAC Packaging Workgroup also will exhibit and feature technology demos. Make2Pack plans a business meeting and will offer a conference session.
Space for the OMAC Packaging Workgroup (OPW, an ISA organization) is provided by show organizers, the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI), and will include information on OPW’s latest Connect-and-Pack initiatives and business advantages of open, modular architecture control in packaging. Included are interoperability demonstrations of SERCOS and Profibus motion networks; sponsor companies are Douglas Machine, Beckhoff, B&R Automation, Elau, and Siemens.
The conference session mentioned is “Maxed out on Productivity? Take Operational Efficiencies to the Next Level with Make2Pack.” Make2Pack joint working group of OMAC Packaging Workgroup, World Batch Forum and ISA’s SP88 committee. The Sept. 28 session include Procter & Gamble’s Dave Chappell, Make2Pack chair, and Joe Faust, electrical engineering manager for Douglas Machine.
