Temperature concentrator system with Ethernet integration

June 18, 2024

Moore Industries has released an update to the TCS Temperature Concentrator System. Originally, the TCS consisted of the TCM Temperature Concentrator Module and the HMC HART-to-MODBUS RTU Converter, which reduced the cost of transmitting multiple temperature sensor measurements by concentrating up to 32 signals on a single MODBUS RTU network.

The latest update introduces the HES HART-to-Ethernet Gateway System, compatible with 16-channel TCM modules for Ethernet-based communication. The HES, available in single or 4-channel models, can connect with up to two TCMs per channel, allowing up to eight TCMs to communicate with one HES. This enables 128 temperature signals to be transmitted over Ethernet to a MODBUS/TCP-based host or viewed via HART-IP or any web browser. The HES supports up to 16 HART devices per channel, with each 16-channel TCM considered one device.

The TCM module converts signal inputs to the HART protocol, allowing the HES to poll each TCM and receive all 16 channel values in a single HART message, improving throughput and response time. The TCS supports HART, MODBUS RTU, MODBUS/TCP, and HART-IP communications, offering seamless integration with various systems. It is intrinsically safe for hazardous areas, reducing installation costs by minimizing the need for dedicated transmitters and wiring.
