A RFID Master Bill of Lading tracking and visibility system originally piloted in 2006 achieved 100 percent read rates; and will be extended now to seven primary and 30 regional distribution centers.
Shaw Industries Group, a Dalton, Ga.-based global supplier of rugs and carpets, has engaged ODIN Technologies to extend deployment of RFID tagging from the initial project at three distribution sites to meet retailer mandates to a total of 40 sites. The RFID Master Bill of Lading tracking and visibility system originally piloted in 2006 achieved 100 percent read rates; and will be extended now to seven primary and 30 regional distribution centers.
The system delivers visibility to the status of trucks and customer orders within its distribution network. “We look forward to leveraging RFID to further improve operational efficiency and customer service,” says Jim Nielsen, manager of technology planning.
