Society for Information Display (SID) extends its reach into Latin America with the formation of an IberoAmerica chapter. The group, which covers all Latin American countries, launched with a four-day conference in Brazil in September. The gathering drew 183 attendees from the chapter’s 21 member nations.
The IberoAmerica chapter is SID’s 27th worldwide. It is intended to help industry professionals in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries connect to researchers and make available SID seminars and technical papers. Chapter officers are located in Campinas, Brazil, which will likely be the initial location for upcoming conferences. The chapter’s first conference, held from Sept. 26-30, included lectures on LED and OLED backlights for LCDs and LCD monitor system design, and featured interactive workshops in which attendees were able to make their own LC panels.
