To help answer questions about fieldbus technology, a panel of three users and three manufacturers will participate in a debate, "Fieldbus Forum—Which Fieldbus is the Real Fieldbus?" at 9-11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 during ISA Tech/99 at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
To help answer questions about fieldbus technology, a panel of three users and three manufacturers will participate in a debate, “Fieldbus Forum—Which Fieldbus is the Real Fieldbus?” at 9-11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 during ISA Tech/99 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The users will describe their requirements for interoperability and standardization, while suppliers will discuss how they expect to meet these needs.
Users on the panel will include: Gary Workman, staff development engineer, Controls, Robotics & Welding, General Motors; H. Cary Longest, principal engineer, Control Systems Architecture, Philip Morris USA, and Richard Caro, vp, automation research chairman for ISA SP-50 fieldbus committee and convenor of IEC SC65C/WG6 fieldbus committee.
Vendors will be represented by: John Berra, senior executive vp and group executive, Fisher-Rosemount, and chairman of the Fieldbus Foundation; Gene Yon, technology vp, Invensys Intelligent Automation; and Tom Quinn, founder and executive vp, Zone Automation. The debate will be moderated by Jim Pinto, president, Action Instruments Inc.
Following the debate, audience members will be able to ask more questions during “Practical Applications of Fieldbus Networks,” at 11:45a.m.-1 p.m. on Oct. 6. A panel of vendors and users will make presentations and take questions on: AS-i, DeviceNet, ControlNet, LON, Modbus, Profibus, Interbus, FOUNDATION fieldbus, and Ethernet.
