Vehicle control: Programming software adds JI939 support

Network communication with J1939 connectivity is now part of EZ Ladder PC-based programming software from Divelbiss Corp. The J1939 protocol, from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), is the open standard for networking and communication in the commercial vehicle sector. The software, which features ladder diagram and function block programming, is incorporated in the company’s PLC on chip-based products that are CAN-networking enabled.

The addition of J1939 connectivity at the chip and module level provides users with previously unavailable off-the-shelf solutions to control problems, and lets OEMs embed intelligence and communication in their product lines quickly and cost effectively. A typical JI939 application is embedded networking in commercial vehicles for subsystems like the power train and chassis. The J1939 facilitates the use of CAN technology for networking and communication, as well as manufacturer interoperability.
