Wide-input point of load dc/dc converters

FDK Corp. enters the standard dc/dc converter market with introduction of a new series of wide-input, non-isolated point of load (POL) converters. Senpai Series is said to provide leading edge performance in industry-standard footprints.

FDK Senpai Series dc/dc converters are offered in 5A, 10A, and 16A output current models, in SMD and SIP packages, with industry-standard footprint and pin-out.

FDK Corp . enters the standard dc/dc converter market with introduction of a new series of wide-input, non-isolated point of load (POL) converters. Senpai Series is said to provide leading edge performance in industry-standard footprints. The dc/dc converters are designed for Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) and Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) applications that require high efficiency, tight regulation, and high reliability in elevated temperature environments with low airflow.

Senpai Series converters operate from a wide input voltage range of 6-14 V dc and provide programmable and fixed output voltages 0.75-5.5 V dc. All models feature remote on/off, over-current and over-temperature protection, and output voltage adjust, and are compatible with standard trim equations. The converters deliver full-rated output current, with little or no de-rating, at high ambient temperatures, with minimal airflow. At 3.3 V dc output, in an ambient of 85 °C with 100 LFM airflow, the 5A and 10A models provide full-rated current, and the 16A model provides 14 A. The thermal performance helps in high-density circuit card conditions. The products are RoHS compliant. In quantities of 1,000, the 5A, 10A, and 16A models are priced at $6, $10, and $12, respectively. Samples are available. FDK Corp. is based in San Jose, CA.
