Deerfield, IL – Woodhead Industries announced January 23 that it had signed a license agreement with Nimble Microsystems that will enable Woodhead to investigate the market opportunities for mobile industrial gateway devices.
This agreement gives Woodhead the rights to an advanced single board computer engine that could have potential as the platform for industrial or harsh commercial handheld devices used to gather remote information or to perform diagnostic functions. Philippe Lemaitre, Woodhead Industries’ president and ceo, commented, ”We are pleased to have obtained the rights to this unique engine for potential development of products for rugged handheld applications. We see this as an opportunity to target harsh commercial communications and information devices, industrial human machine interface tablets and light industrial data collection and diagnostic devices. If successful in a test market, we will make this a global product for sale through our existing channels and develop further application for the technology.”
