Its real-time Ethernet compatibility and feedback interfacing, built-in functional safety gives it the ability to be used in many different types of control system architectures. The drives can be configured using a range of different continuous/peak power output modes to optimize them for applications with different precision, dynamic performance and duty-cycle requirements. The MotiFlex e180 drives are designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), system integrators and automation engineers who work for heavy-duty applications like printing, papermaking, converting, textiles, plastics, and steel production. 

The MotiFlex e180 features universal Ethernet communications capability. MotiFlex e180 Drives may be software-configured for EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP or PowerLink based systems. MotiFlex e180 Drives feature dual-channel support for safe torque off (STO) functional safety, conforming to PL e SIL3. Each drive also comes with a range of built-in I/O including six digital inputs, two fast-latch inputs, four digital outputs, two analog inputs, and an analog output. MotiFlex e180's extensive built-in functionality allows drives to be employed in many different control system architectures. The software-selectable Ethernet communications capability makes it easier to build systems using PLCs.
