Trumpf Inc. acquires AFM Canada
Farmington, CT —
Trumpf Inc
., a high-tech group focusing on production and medical technology, has acquired 100% of Advanced Fabricating Machinery (AFM), Canada, which was formed in 1997 by Trumpf Inc. and Robert Watson as an equal joint venture. The completion of the acquisition of AFM contributes to Trumpf’s position in the field of fabricating and laser technology in North America.
President and CEO, Rolf Biekert, said, “On behalf of Trumpf, I am proud of what we accomplished and just as excited about Trumpf’s future in Canada.”
AFM’s mission has been to establish long-term relationships with their customers by selling high-quality, flexible fabricating equipment that allows customers to maximize their profits. Under the leadership of Robert Watson, AFM will serve the Canadian market as a sales and spare parts facility for Trumpf products. Trumpf is a world market leader in lasers used for industrial production technology.
Bimba acquires Mead Fluid Dynamics Inc.
Monee, IL —
Bimba Manufacturing Co
. announced the completion last month of its acquisition of Mead Fluid Dynamics Inc., headquartered in Chicago. Mead was founded in 1939 and has been a leader in the design and development of valves, cylinders, and pneumatic components for the industrial automation market.
The acquisition reflects Bimba’s commitment to developing capabilities that address customer needs. According to Bimba president Pat Ormsby, “Mead’s business philosophy is very similar to ours and its products have a great reputation in the field. This acquisition reflects our long-term commitment to growth. We fully expect it to strengthen Bimba financially and complement our product offering.”
Mead will continue to operate in its present location; there are currently no plans to change distribution channels.
Hardy Instruments acquired by Roper Industries

, a San Diego-based manufacturer of process weighing, vibration monitoring and tension control solutions, announces its acquisition by Roper Industries Inc. Hardy provides precision weighing, tension control and vibration monitoring equipment.

describes itself as a market-driven, diversified growth company with trailing 12 month revenues of $1.9 billion, providing engineered products and solutions for global niche markets, including water, energy, radio frequency and research/medical applications. Hardy Instruments says it has been providing superior, innovative products and excellent customer service for more than 85 years. Its process weighing technology provides new opportunities to companies under Roper’s Energy Systems and Controls group. Roper’s excellence in market connectivity and international presence will aid Hardy’s global reach and future growth, the company says.
“The technology now available to other Roper companies from this acquisition, coupled with our disciplined growth process, is an exciting combination,” said Tim Winfrey, vice president of the Roper Energy Systems and Controls Group.
“This is an exciting milestone for our company and we look forward to the growth opportunities this provides to Hardy Instruments such as stronger international presence and access to other technologies within the Roper business,” said David Cornwell, general manager of Hardy Instruments.
Roper divides its businesses into four groups: Industrial Technology, RF Technology, Energy Systems & Controls, and Scientific & Industrial Imaging. A company representative told Control Engineering that no changes are planned for the Hardy Process Weighing and Tension Control product lines, and all engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales functions are expected to remain in San Diego. The Hardy Vibration Monitoring line reportedly will be integrated into
Metrix
‘s vibration monitoring line over the next few weeks, and sold by their sales channel. Metrix is part of the same Roper division.
