Nicholas Bell should be recognized with this award because of the many projects he has undertaken since graduating from college and while working at a local, family-owned business, InterConnecting Automation, Inc. With the knowledge that comes from each project and what he has learned at college, Nicholas has been able to apply it to a variety of fields and systems. He has become a system integrator and consultant for InterConnecting Automation, Inc. He travels to various sites to design, train, and complete projects in all shapes and sizes. He has been writing programs since he was 12 years old.
Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions
Many of the achievement and advancements that Nicholas has come from his time working at InterConnecting Automation, Inc. He has traveled across the United States to visit sites to replace aging controls system or to install a saw to cut countertops and other rock material. He has been cited in Control Magazine for writing the code for various systems at Impact Sand and Gravel in the Las Vegas area. While working at InterConnecting Automation, Inc. he has contributed to the creation of a One-on-One PLC Training/Tutoring/Programming. This One-on-One is where Nicholas will be able to assist with anything needed, “You name it, and it can be covered.” Nicholas is able to provide assistance and mentoring to anyone that signs up. The knowledge that he possesses is provided to the customer by someone that is working in the industry and walks in the customers shoes daily.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
In the past year, Nicholas enjoys being in the outdoors. Whether it is hunting, fishing, or boating, the outdoors is where he is able to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. An activity that he has grown to enjoy is bowfishing, not like fishing with a rod and reel, but with a bow and arrow. This style of fishing is quite unique and is starting become known around the world. He has participated in a few tournaments throughout the state of Wisconsin, even though he didn’t take first place this year, he still had a great time.
Interesting Details
- An interesting detail about Nicholas is that he is an Eagle Scout and he earned this honor through the Boy Scouts of America. He carries this honor alongside of his brothers, father, and uncle. In order to earn this honor, he was to complete all levels in the Boy Scouts and a service project.
- He is also proud of the very first program that he wrote when he was 12 years old. The program that he wrote and installed was for a hydraulic press.
Why did they choose this career?
Nicholas chose this career in part to his father working in the industrial automation field. This career gave him the opportunity to problem solve and think in complex ways. The field of electrical engineering was very interesting to him since his dad worked in the field and the area of controls is ever growing. He loves that each day brings him something new to work on and challenge him. He loves having the ability to learn and grow his knowledge of the industry in every project and program that he is a part of.
