Cellular communication technology is making it possible to connect many more types of remote field devices to the cloud. However, common issues like unstable connectivity, high data usage fees, and unreliable control have limited its usefulness and prevented more widespread adoption. In addition, many remote field devices are installed in an environment where the power budget is limited, cabinets cannot be temperature-controlled, and LTE coverage is unavailable or cost-prohibitive.
The ioLogik 2542-HSPA-T is a cellular remote I/O module that addresses these challenges by maximizing reliability, performance and ease of use. The unit offers highly flexible I/O and cellular connectivity, with 4 channels for analog input, 12 channels for user-configurable digital input or output, and 5-band UTMS/HSPA communication that supports up to 5.76 Mbps upload/14.4 Mbps download. Extremely reliable communications is maintained through a 3-step automatic reconnection function, dynamic IP access, and dual SIM failover. Critically, the ioLogik is designed for harsh environments and low power consumption by supporting -30 to 70 C (-22 to 158 F) operating temperatures and consuming only 13 Watts with HSPA enabled.
Operators can efficiently monitor a large number of field devices through automatic tag generation and reporting of the ioLogik’s connected sensors and meters. This feature works in conjunction with Moxa’s MX-AOPC UA Server on the cloud for impressive network bandwidth savings and minimal latency. Custom real-time alerts can be easily configured for users to be notified by SMS, email, or SNMP trap. The patented Click & Go Plus configuration interface is based on IF-THEN-ELSE logic that is extremely easy to learn and use.
