The Process Historian is a new option for Simatic PCS 7 version 8. It is a historical database and report system developed specifically for the process control system user. It allows users to get access to real-time and archived data to optimize their processes and operating equipment.

The Process Historian uses SQL server for storage and administration for faster call-up times of historical trends and data integrity during server failures. Controller, operator station data, alarm information, and Simatic Batch data are integrated in this historian.

The Process Historian reporting engine is Microsoft Reporting Services. It ensures seamless integration of Web and Microsoft office applications to give the user various options to view and export the prepared data in user-specific visualization.
