EC: UC-8112-ME-T-LX Programmable 4G LTE Modbus Data Logger
Hardware — Data acquisition: The UC-8112-ME-T-LX is rugged, programmable 4G LTE Modbus data logger that maximizes flexibility and ease of deployment for Industrial IoT applications. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Winner.
The Moxa UC-8112-ME-T-LX is a highly versatile and programmable 4G LTE Modbus data logger that is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures without requiring cooling fans or heaters. With Moxa’s ThingsPro ready-to-run data acquisition software pre-installed, the UC-8112-ME-T-LX brings the benefits of simplified application development, enterprise-class performance, gateway security, and 4G LTE connectivity to Industrial Internet of Things users that are underserved by current embedded solutions.
The UC-8112-ME-T-LX is one of the only wireless data loggers with both AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE certification, allowing it to offer the industry’s widest geographic coverage and most reliable connectivity. It provides remote operation in temperatures ranging from -40 to 70 C, making it ideally suited for applications in industrial automation, solar energy management, weather station monitoring, and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Powered by a 1-GHz ARMv7 Cortex-A8 processor, the UC-8112-ME-T-LX features two RS-232/422/485 serial ports, dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN ports, a USB port, and an SD slot for expandable offline storage. Moxa’s ThingsPro software is pre-installed to simplify all aspects of collecting, processing, and sharing data between connected devices and a cloud database or platform. The ThingsPro package includes built-in data compression and data processing features that can save users potentially thousands of dollars on ongoing data plan costs, as well as a Modbus data management platform with an easy, web-based interface. Since wireless management functions and industrial protocol drivers are also included, system integrators and developers don’t have build their own, potentially saving weeks of development and deployment effort.
