Flat-panel computers/monitors work in hazardous environments

Greenville, S.C.— Computer Dynamic’s Survivor is first in a new series of flat-panel computers and monitors designed for outdoors. It has a sunlight-readable 13.8-in. XGA LCD, 200 MHz Pentium MMX computer, and an infrared touchscreen. The display automatically adjusts its brightness for ambient light, dimming to 250 nits. The standard unit is rated Class I/Div. 2 (nonincendive) and complies with Class I/Div. 1 codes by adding the company’s Type X purge system.
