GE Power Systems buys Bently Nevada

Atlanta, Ga. – GE Power Systems stated Jan. 24 that it has completed the acquisition of Bently Nevada Corp. (Minden, Nev.) that it announced this past November. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bently Nevada is a 40-year-old manufacturer of machinery monitoring and diagnostics devices, and reported to be a leader in rotor dynamics. Its products include plant asset management systems related to vibration monitoring, machinery protection, software and engineering services. The company employs 2,100 people worldwide, and has projected sales of $235 million in 2001.

‘With the addition of Bently Nevada, we will be able to provide an even more comprehensive portfolio of products and services to meet our customers’ power needs,’ says John Rice, GE Power Systems’ president and ceo. ‘Bentley Nevada’s strong technology and engineering resources will provide us with an integrated products and solutions platform for machine monitoring and diagnostics.’

Don Bently, Bently Nevada’s founder, chairman and ceo, say both companies’ customers will benefit from the acquisition. ‘It brings a new dimension of products and services into GE’s growing turbine operations worldwide.’
