Only 60 mW operates the ISXC878 intrinsically safe loop-powered, clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter from GE Sensing. Designed to bring the advantages of clamp-on flow metering to classified hazardous areas, the device reportedly features high accuracy, easy installation, no pressure drop, and drift-free performance, and requires virtually no maintenance.

Low power consumption is achieved by using ultrasonic transducer technology that requires less excitation energy than conventional transducers, while still providing high-performing ultrasonic signals.

Unit has a low-profile, Type 4X package with a 128 x 64 pixel LCD for viewing flow rate information, and a 6-button external keypad for accessing the instrument program and verifying meter diagnostics.

Transducers are available to cover pipe size ranging from 1/2-16 in. diameter.
