New IEEE 802.11n industrial Wi-Fi access point
Product Exclusive: Technologies announces the upcoming release of the new APN-300N industrial wireless access point, with the newest 802.11n Wi-Fi standard to provide up to 300 Mbps throughput.
Aaxeon Technologies announces the upcoming release of the newest model in the Airolinx line of industrial wireless products. The new APN-300N model builds upon the APN-200 (802.11b/g) and APN-200A (802.11a/b/g) models, and includes the newest 802.11n Wi-Fi standard to provide up to 300 Mbps throughput.
IEEE 802.11n builds onto prior 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and 40 MHz channels to the physical (PHY) layer, and frame aggregation to the MAC layer. MIMO is a technology which uses multiple antennas to coherently resolve more information than is possible using one antenna. Antenna diversity and spatial multiplexing are two important benefits. The APN-300N model has a MIMO radio with two antennas, and can support the 2T2R technology (2 transmit, 2 receive).
The APN-300N supports the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, selectable via Web interface. It will contain an independent radio option where the customer can use the 5 GHz radio for a backhaul and the 2.4 GHz radio for a local connection. The APN-300N supports the advanced security of WEP / WPA/ WPA-PSK (TKIP, AES) / WPA2 / WPA2-PSK (TKIP, AES) / 802.1x / RADIUS. Like the APN-200, the unit has two LAN ports that allow the unit to operate as a two-port switch. Additionally, it supports STP and has a standard operating temperature of range of -10 C to 60 C. Aaxeon will also offer an extended temperature model that has an operating range of -35 C to 75 C. The APN-300N will be available to ship in third-quarter 2012, the company said.
