Cupertino, Calif. —SpectraFoil is a full-sheet measurement sensor for the wet end of the paper machine and the FullWeb Advanced Systems Technology (FAST) control package. Rather than employ a scanner, the sensor provides instantaneous cross-direction (CD) and machine-direction (MD) water weight measurements. When installed, the SpectraFoil sensor elements are fully integrated in a standard foil, mounted to the Fourdrinier table rails. The sensor’s zero-angle configuration allows the embedded sensor elements to contact the underside of the wire, without any affect on dewatering or wire life. In standard mode, the measurement data are acquired at a rate of 10 CD profiles per sec. In burst mode, the rate is increased up to 600 CD profiles per sec.
