MapleSim applies symbolic preprocessing techniques to model equations, creating simplified, efficient models. Code generated from the models can be exported to real-time and other applications. Because of symbolic preprocessing, code runs 10 to 100 times faster for complex models.
MapleSim tools for model design and analysis, which include dynamic analysis, control design, and optimization, can create custom components and live design documentation. The advanced symbolic computing engine and traditional numeric solvers supercharge the simulation and modeling process. The company claims that with the Maple computation engine to provide the automatic generation of equations, model simplification, and analysis tools, savings in the design process can range from weeks to months.
According to Edward Melcarek, director of research and development at Sono-Dyne Inc., a pilot user of MapleSim, “The palettes and menu are very well thought out and I especially like the drag-and-drop modules that can be calibrated at one’s preferences.” He added that he could see the math modeling software becoming a must-have tool among engineers, scientists, and designers.
