Kevin Staggs explains why it’s important for those responsible for industrial networks to form partnerships with the company IT department, and the original system vendor.

While some may feel that there is a gap between those who work with industrial control systems and the company IT department, these days bridging that gap is more important than ever. Moreover, the IT folks should be your friends because there are things they can do more easily. These are some key points from a discussion with Kevin Staggs, CISSP, engineering fellow with Honeywell ACS.
In this seven-minute discussion, Staggs explains the kind of things that IT groups should be able to do in the plant, and a few of the things they shouldn’t. He also extends the partnership to include the original system vendor, and how that company can take a more active role in your system maintenance and cyber security efforts.
