NPort IA Series of networking products includes two types of device servers: one type connects to copper wire networks; the other to fiberoptic networks. Copper wire models come with two Fast Ethernet ports (RJ45, 10/100BaseTX), allowing the device servers to be cascaded for easier deployment. Models that connect to a fiberoptic network are intended for use when transmission distance causes a “noise” problem. Using an SC connector (100BaseFX) to connect to an Ethernet network extends the transmission distance up to 40 km using single-mode fiber. Fiber Ethernet is also growing in popularity for application in high-noise environments.
NPort IA device-servers feature slim design. Industrial automation applications require slim-type DIN-rail modules to fit into small control cabinets. To meet this demand, NPort IA Series devices are equipped with a software-selectable RS-232/422/485 interface and are 1-in. wide to save space on a DIN-rail mounting rack. Device servers come with dual power inputs. If one source fails, or the Ethernet link is disconnected, alarms can be generated with a built-in relay. Alternatively, an urgent e-mail alert can be sent to an administrator. www.moxausa.com Moxa Technologies Inc.
