Beckhoff has introduced the Beckhoff AX1000 compact servo drive for motion control applications in the TwinCAT automation system. Its compact design provides functions similar to large servo drives in the Beckhoff AX series.
The AX1000 servo drive is available in two versions: one for a low-power application with a single-phase 1 x 240 V AC supply and one for three-phase 3 x 480 V AC systems. Current ratings range from 1.65 A to 12 A.
The AX1000 has compact dimensions, supports gap-free installation and incorporates an integrated control power supply, DC link capacitors and a ballast circuit. Most variants also include a ballast resistor. The control voltage is generated by the integrated power supply from the DC link. Both models are available as single-axis and dual-axis modules. Supported motor types include AM8000 synchronous servomotors with One Cable Technology (OCT), and asynchronous and reluctance motors with or without feedback.
TwinCAT automation software and EtherCAT networking support commissioning, operation and diagnostics for AX1000 servo drives. Tools used with the AX5000 and AX8000 drives, including TwinCAT Drive Manager 2, Autotuning, Bode Plot and cogging compensation, can also be used with the AX1000.
