PRODUCT INFORMATION

MANUFACTURED BY Elmo

Elmo has announced a new motion controller and new servo drives for industrial applications, including use in harsh operating conditions involving temperature, altitude, sea depth, humidity and vibration. The products were presented at Automate 2026 in Chicago.

The new releases expand Elmo’s Platinum line and introduce the Titanium line. The products are designed for compact multi-axis systems and include functional safety features integrated at the drive level, which can reduce the amount of external safety hardware and cabling required.

Motion control and safety updates

The new products shown at Automate include:

  • Elmo Titanium Castanet servo drive: Dual-axis servo drive with functional safety* in a compact form factor
  • Elmo Titanium Harmonica servo drive: Dual-axis servo drive rated up to 50A/100V and 35A/200V with functional safety*
  • Elmo Titanium Maestro motion controller: Multi-axis motion controller supporting up to 256 axes, including 16 axes at EtherCAT cycle times of 100 µs
  • Elmo Platinum Jori 30A/60A servo drives: Servo drives rated up to 20/40 kW continuous power with functional safety* and a silicon carbide power stage
  • Elmo Platinum Cymbal servo drive: Servo drive rated up to 17kW in a compact enclosure with functional safety*

The Titanium line supports multi-axis system design. For example, one Titanium Castanet can replace two Elmo Twitter servo drives, reducing overall system size and allowing x/y positioning to be synchronized over a single bus instead of two. These servo drives include an integrated processor and use GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology to improve switching efficiency in motor control systems.

Elmo Servo drives are used in robotic systems and other motion-control applications, including automated guided vehicles (AGVs)/ and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), cobots, and exo-skeletons. These applications often use multiple servo drives to control motor position, velocity and torque for synchronized motion. They may also require different servo drives for different motor sizes, from larger motors used in main robotic joints to smaller motors used in robotic hands.

The servo drives include:

  • Compact form factor to reduce footprint
  • High power density for space-constrained systems
  • Up to 17 certified functional safety features
  • Precise motion control for coordinated motor operation
  • Multi-axis capability to reduce system size and design complexity
  • Off-the-shelf availability with customization options
  • Availability for volume production

Elmo supports its servo drives with Elmo Application Studio III (EASIII) and Composer2 for machine designers to develop, test and implement control algorithms.

*In certification process.
