MANUFACTURED BY Mitsubishi Electric US

Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc.’s Industrial Automation Division has added 400V models to Mitsubishi EM-A series sensorless servo motor lineup. The new models have power ratings from 0.4 kW to 7.5 kW and are compatible  with Mitsubishi Electric's FR-E800 and FR-D800 Series variable frequency drives (VFDs) for industrial automation, material handling, HVAC, water and wastewater and general manufacturing applications.

The EM-A Series uses permanent magnet motor technology with sensorless control for speed regulation and positioning without an encoder. The motors use a salient-pole design and can reduce the number of system components, wiring and maintenance requirements in applications that do not require an encoder.

When paired with the FR-E800 Series VFD, EM-A motors provide positioning and speed control without external feedback devices. The combination supports speed regulation of ±0.05% and can reduce the need for additional motion hardware by using the drive’s built-in functions.

For applications requiring energy efficiency, EM-A motors paired with the FR-D800 Series VFD provide efficiency comparable to IE5-rated motors. The motor design may also require less installation space than selected induction motors, while energy consumption and operating costs will vary by application and operating conditions.

The EM-A Series is available in brake, keyway shaft and IP65-rated configurations. Applications include conveyors, crane systems, material handling equipment, pumping systems, irrigation systems, fans and other machinery requiring motor control and speed regulation.
