Moxa Inc. has launched new 64-bit Arm-based computers Moxa UC-3400A and Moxa UC-4400A Series featuring dual-wireless, 5G/LTE, and Wi-Fi 6, connectivity. Built around an Arm Cortex-A53 quad-core processor, these computers are tested for radio-frequency (RF) performance reliability and designed for industrial IoT applications.

According to Research and Markets[1] report on Industrial automation and wireless IoT, the install base of active wireless IoT devices in the industrial automation industry is expected to grow from 56.5 million units in 2023 to 110.3 million units by 2028. As the number of wireless devices in the industrial environment increases, business operators must evaluate various wireless technologies to determine the most suitable options for their needs.
To address these challenges, Moxa unveils new 64-bit Arm-based computers with a quad-core processor, wireless connectivity, system software designed to streamline development, and IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 compliance. The computers include a 10-year OS maintenance with security patches and fixes, offering performance with energy efficiency to help customers expand their businesses.
“Moxa is continuously investing in wireless communication technology including Wi-Fi, cellular, and 5G, to ensure reliable connectivity to the cloud for edge-computing devices, even in harsh industrial environments. Dual wireless connectivity ensures uninterrupted data transmission, maximizing productivity in IIoT applications,” Ryan Teng, head of Industrial Wireless and Arm-based Computer Divisions.
High-speed wireless and network troubleshooting improve reliability
The UC-4400A Series, Moxa’s first 5G Arm-based computers with low latency, multiple connection-interfaces, and reliable performance, supports real-time data processing and connects multiple devices to industrial applications. Expansion modules for Wi-Fi 6E connectivity increase bandwidth and reduce interference, improving data transmission speed. Additionally, Moxa’s partnership with Qualcomm for Qualcomm Extended Diagnostics Monitor (QXDM) provides log analysis and troubleshooting support to improve wireless connection stability.
Dual wireless connectivity improves reliability and performance
The UC-3400A and UC-4400A Series offer dual wireless connectivity, integrating cellular and Wi-Fi capabilities in a single computer. This provides redundancy to maintain operations if one connection fails. Moxa Connection Manager (MCM) facilitates failover between cellular and Wi-Fi to improve reliability. These computers are suited for industrial applications that require uninterrupted data transmission. Additionally, load balancing distributes data traffic across both connections to improve network performance.
Global certifications and Industrial design support reliable performance
The UC-3400A and UC-4400A Series have been tested and certified globally for UL, FCC, CE and RCM, as well as by North American carriers PTCRB, AT&T and Verizon (expected to be certified in Q1 2025). Additionally, the UC-3400A Series has been tested for ATEX and CID2 requirements in hazardous environments and is expected to be certified in Q2 2025. These certifications support reliable data transmission across various industrial settings and regions.
The UC-3400A and UC-4400A computers operate in temperatures from -40 to 70°C with wireless capabilities. They are suitable for applications in the distributed energy resources, industrial automation and oil and gas sectors. Supported with a five-year product warranty and 10-year OS maintenance, they provide extended operational support.
IEC 62443-4-2 compliance supports security and reduces development time
Moxa’s UC-3400A and UC-4400A Series computers run on Moxa Industrial Linux (MIL3) and comply with IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 requirements, helping reduce development time for security implementation. The secure operating system includes Secure Boot, which verifies that edge computers boot from an authorized bootloader and operating system. A Hardware Root of Trust, a hardware-based chain-of-trust validation sequence, supports Secure Boot and software updates integrity, helping to protect against unauthorized access.
