Beckhoff has introduced Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 CoAgent for Engineering (TE1700), an open-architecture engineering assistant for automation development that supports multiple large language models and AI platforms. Integrated into the TwinCAT environment, the tool is intended to assist with programming tasks and help engineering teams reduce repetitive work during project development.
Beckhoff developed TwinCAT 3 CoAgent for Engineering as part of its ML and AI tools for automation. The assistant operates within the TwinCAT XAE engineering environment and provides code suggestions, optimization support, AI-assisted I/O configuration, HMI support and documentation updates. Users can define requirements in natural language, and the software uses existing project structures to generate project-specific suggestions.
Because TwinCAT CoAgent is integrated into the automation engineering environment, users can review and apply outputs without requiring copy-and-paste steps from external tools. Engineers review and approv AI-generated results before they are applied.
