New industrial AI platform supports enterprise-scale AI

Emerson has introduced the Emerson AspenTech AVA AI platform, designed for industrial companies seeking to apply AI across the enterprise. The platform includes agentic, domain-aware AI capabilities intended to help companies respond to operating conditions more quickly, support ongoing performance improvement using operational context and use AI-assisted recommendations integrated into operational workflows.

As AI technologies continue to develop, industrial organizations are looking for ways to use them in operations. Aspen Virtual Advisor (AVA) draws on Emerson’s industrial experience and physics-based models in its workflows and operational functions while using large language models. The platform is intended to help companies apply generative AI in operations and develop an enterprise operations platform that links data, operational context and decision-making across the organization.

AVA is designed to work with multiple data-sources and existing automation infrastructure. It uses the AspenTech Inmation Data Platform to organize OT data from cloud, edge and on-premise environments. The platform provides AVA with access to real-time operational data, while the company’s first-principles models and industrial experience are intended to help interpret conditions, evaluate options and support decision-makings in industrial operations.

In addition to supporting operational decision-making, AVA is intended to help professionals entering in operations roles by providing guidance informed by existing operational knowledge. By integrating AI-assisted decision support into operational workflows, the platform is designed to support a simpler and more automated user experience for users familiar with digital tools, while supporting consistent use across the enterprise.

AVA is available with four advisors focused on operational optimization and decision support. Industrial companies can explore how AVA’s AI-driven workflows may be used in their operations through AspenTech.ai, a web-based platform where users can interact  with AVA, review AI-assisted decision-support use cases and access Emerson’s AspenTech resources related to their operations.
