Sew Eurodrive has added the Sew Eurodrive PxG planetary servo gear portfolio. The series includes three performance classes for machine builders and OEMs requiring servo gear units for standard industrial automation applications.

The new P1.G, P2.G and P3.G gear units expand the PxG family below the P5.G, P6.G and P7.G precision models. The additional options allows customers to select gear units based on application requirements and avoid specifying precision, torque capacity or load capability beyond what the machine requires.

Performance options for standard automation

The PxG economy series is designed for applications with low to moderate technical requirements. Typical uses include packaging equipment, assembly machinery, material handling systems, carton erectors, gantry robots and machine tool portals.

Each performance class is designed for different mechanical requirements. P1.G is intended for standard applications with relatively low overhung loads. P2.G is designed for applications requiring greater load capacity and increased radial force capacity. P3.G combines straight gearing with higher-capacity bearings for applications with greater mechanical load requirements and cost constraints.

Modular servo gear unit options

The PxG economy series is available in five sizes with peak torque ratings from 11 to 500 Nm. The gear units are offered in one- and two-stage configurations, with rotational clearance from 6 to 12 arcminutes and a rated service life of more than 20,000 hours.

The modular system includes solid-shaft designs with smooth, keyed or splined output options, depending on the performance class. Food-grade lubrication options and multiple mounting interfaces are available for different machine configurations. The series is also integrated into Sew-Eurodrive engineering tools, including Sew-Workbench, DriveCAD and DriveConfigurator, for gear unit selection and system design.

The new economy range adds to the existing PxG precision portfolio with an option for applications with lower cost requirements. Together, the economy and precision series provide customers with additional planetary servo gear unit options within the PxG modular system.

The introduction of the PxG economy series adds to Sew Eurodrive’s modular motion product range for OEMs considering machine performance, system cost and operating requirements.
