Emerson has announced the Emerson Synchros Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform, a suite of technologies for monitoring asset condition and supporting maintenance planning through a wireless architecture built for deployment in existing facilities.

In many operations, asset monitoring still relies on periodic manual inspections due to cost and logistical constraints, which s can leave emerging issues undetected between rounds. The Emerson Synchros platform addresses this by enabling continuous monitoring, allowing maintenance and operations teams to add digital monitoring points and increase coverage using a WirelessHART-based architecture.

For process industries such as chemical, oil and gas, power, life sciences and water/wastewater, the Emerson Synchros platform supports deployment in selected monitoring applications and lets users scale coverage over time on a shared platform designed for existing infrastructure.

The initial release includes the Emerson Rosemount Synchros Temperature Monitor and the Emerson Rosemount Synchros Wireless Repeater, which support wireless monitoring across more assets and locations. The temperature monitor converts manual measurements into digital data, while the repeater extends network range so additional monitoring points can be added without new wired infrastructure. 

In future releases, Emerson plans to add more devices and connectivity options, allowing users to expand monitoring deployments and support broader facility digitization efforts. These additions are expected to include measurement of additional process parameters, such as pressure and connectivity options for use cases involving geographically dispersed assets such as water/wastewater systems and the power grid.

The Rosemount Synchros Temperature Monitor is designed to collect surface and ambient temperature data that can help identify abnormal conditions in assets such as pumps, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, steam systems and heat tracing systems, supporting earlier investigation and maintenance planning.

Designed for industrial environments, the Emerson Synchros platform supports deployment in hazardous locations and harsh operating conditions. Its rugged construction and simplified installation features support easier deployment and system expansion while helping reduce training requirements and maintenance complexity.
