Wonderware announces restructuring, 150 layoffs

Wonderware Corp. launched Jan. 16 a restructuring program designed to streamline its organization and improve its ability to deliver software functionality, web-enabled plant information, and product ordering and configuration.The company will also reduce its worldwide employment by about 20% by the end of January 2001.

The company will also reduce its worldwide employment by about 20% by the end of January 2001. These reductions will consolidate or eliminate some internal functions and layers of management, and cut about 150 jobs.

“We’re dedicated to making the changes necessary to ensure that Wonderware remains the leader in providing software for manufacturing management information in the new millennium,” says Joe Cowan, president and ceo. “Over the past several months we’ve realized that our organization, business and development processes need to be more agile and efficient for a changing market.”
