Pro-face exhibits new operator interfaces, software

Pro-face America

Chicago, Ill. -Pro-face America (Glendale Heights, Ill.), which bought Xycom Automation Inc. (Saline, Mich.) on Feb. 15, showcased it and Xycom's operator interface products during National Manufacturing Week 2001 on Mar. 5-8. Pro-face focused on its two newest products, GP2000 Series programmable operator interface and GP-Web web operation software.

Its functional interfaces make GP2000 a 'factory automation gateway,' according to Pro-face. GP2000 panels have an Ethernet interface, CF card slot, sound output, printer interface, serial interface, expansion bus interface, tool connector, and aux interface for external I/O devices. All panels feature a TFT-color LCD panel, 4MB of screen memory, a 100-MHz central processor, 256-color graphics display, touch-panel operation, and compact design.

GP-Web web operation software allows direct access from remote locations to point-of-production information. It converts real-time screen data from Pro-face's GP or GLC Series units into HTML-format data viewable through a standard web browser. Data can be shared via company networks or the web. Users can remotely monitor production status, quality improvement, and business strategy mapping. More than 150 drivers for 600 models of controllers are available.

Pro-face and Xycom products continue to carry their own brand names after the merger. All products will be sold through Xycom distributors in the U.S.
