Achievements, Advancements & Career-related Industry Contributions
David began his career at Hargrove on the Process Team, supporting Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies as part of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for multiple clients. He later transitioned to the Controls & Automation Team as a process safety engineer, where he engaged in PHA scribing, safety instrumented system (SIS) documentation, programming, and commissioning.
He has served as technical lead on projects across multiple industries, with primary expertise in PLC programming and on-site commissioning and startup. Among his unique contributions, he helped design, program, and build a new seven-segment LED driver to replace obsolete parts at the Exploreum Science Center in Mobile, Alabama.
David is also a mentor in Hargrove’s High School Internship program, guiding interns in troubleshooting and repairing exhibits at the Exploreum Science Center. He has earned his Ignition Core 8.1 certification from Inductive Automation and holds a HIMA certification for HIMax and HIMatrix SIS systems. In February 2023, he received Hargrove Controls & Automation’s Monthly Quality Award for his commitment to helping clients overcome challenges and for the value he brings to the team.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
David enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. Recently, he and his wife traveled with close friends to Thailand and Vietnam, experiences that deepened his appreciation for other cultures and cuisines.
A passionate cook, David believes food is a “universal language” that connects people wherever they go. He particularly enjoys Venezuelan cuisine introduced to him by his wife, who was born in Venezuela before moving to the United States.
Interesting Details
David is currently expanding his communication skills by learning Spanish, which he expects will benefit both his personal travels and professional career. He also enjoys hands-on projects, from woodworking to home automation, often blending the complexity of automation with the simplicity of craftsmanship.
