Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. has expanded its CNC portfolio with the introduction of the Mitsubishi M8V CNC Series for machine tool applications in North America. Based on the M80 Series platform, the M8V CNC Series adds control functions intended to improve cycle times, support precision machining, extend tool life and reduce scrap in customized machining environments.
According Mitsubishi Electric Corporation research, as of August 2021, the M80V CNC Series included built-in wireless LAN, allowing operators to connect machines to software tools on a remote PC for wireless data exchange. The M8V CNC Series can achieve approximately 11% faster machining than the previous M80 CNC Series through machine response-contour control (OMR-CC). The series also include cutting load control to reduce cycle times and support tool life, as well as tool cutting point control to compensate for changes in tool geometry without requiring program modifications.
The M8V CNC Series also includes features for customization and operation, including image input from PCs or cameras to identify machine tools and support for ST language alongside ladder language for creating and editing PLC programs using code-based syntax. The series also includes 3D machining simulation intended to reduce trial machining, defective parts and material waste.
