Houston, Tex.- Plant Automation Services Inc. (PAS) announced Nov. 26 its acquisition of TuneWizard, a control valve and loop performance assessment and optimization software product, from ControlServe Ltd. (Cambridge, Ontario, Canda). PAS is a supplier of people and asset solutions for industrial process plants using information management and process control systems.

TuneWizard software provides data acquisition, process diagnostics, controller tuning, control loop simulation, and report writing in a Microsoft Windows application. The software is said to improve control loop performance using a holistic approach-analyzing the loop for critical control performance factors such as tuning parameters, process nonlinearity and control valve performance. The developer of TuneWizard, Jacques Smuts, has accepted the position of business director of the Control Precision business unit at PAS.

The initial focus of the acquisition is to compliment the existing alarm system performance monitoring capability of PAS’s AMO Suite and the existing integrity management capability of its DOC3000 software with the loop performance monitoring in TuneWizard. According to PAS, the combination of these three will provide the process industries’ first integrated performance monitoring package for plant automation assets.
