DIN-rail industrial UPS protects from unexpected power disruptions

SDU DIN-rail uninterruptible power system (UPS) is designed to ensure industrial end-users maximum uptime and total protection from unexpected power disruptions. SDU UPS is said to allow safe and secure mounting on a DIN rail, in a control panel, or as an integrated part of an enclosure or a machine to provide reliable and economical power protection to critical loads in locations exposed to power aberrations in the factory-floor environment. It features a compact design that is 281 mm (11.1 in.) wide by 116 mm (4.55 in.) deep x 124 mm (4.88 in.) high, and weighs approximately 10 lb.

System provides ride-through during brief power outages and allows critical and sensitive equipment to shut down safely during extended power failures, preventing costly data losses, work interruptions, and equipment damage. It also supplies protection for the increasing number of microprocessor-based technologies common in the industrial environment that are continually subjected to voltage impulses and fluctuations on the plant floor. Combining advanced off-line features in an ultra-compact package, SDU UPS is well suited for numerous applications including industrial computers; robotics; PLCs; and automation, process control, and conveying equipment. Delivery of back-up ac power during disturbances reduces production losses and helps facilities maintain high efficiency levels.

Self-diagnostics, alarms: Two models are available. SDU 120 V meets UL 1778 for industrial application standards. The 230 V model is CE compliant. Both are available in two sizes—500 VA and 850 VA, 50/60 Hz—to fit most applications and load demands. The standard UPS including batteries is rated to operate at extended temperatures up to 50 °C without derating. Other features include rugged, industrial grade steel enclosure; strong metal DIN-rail mounting connectors; input/output IP20-rated screw terminals; easy-to-use, clearly labeled front panel; LED indicators, alarms; self-diagnostic capabilities; input surge protection; data-line surge protection; DB9 communication interface; and optional dry contact I/O communication and USB port.

Powerful, microprocessor-controlled UPS has input voltage range of 80-110% of nominal, ideal protection for critical connected loads. Battery charging occurs automatically when ac power is applied; there is no need to switch the UPS to “on.” During a power failure, the UPS can be turned off automatically if no connected loads are operating to save battery energy. An automatic self-test feature tests UPS function and battery, and sounds an alarm and illuminates an LED indicator if a problem is detected. Device includes monitoring/diagnostic software and serial cable; program is compatible with Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, and XP.
