Emerson has added combustible gas detection to Emerson Rosemount 928 Wireless Gas Monitor, enabling percent lower explosive limit (%LEL) monitoring over the WirelessHART platform. The update allows combustible gas monitoring in remote or difficult‑to‑wire locations without requiring additional power or dedicated signal wiring.
The updated Rosemount 928 device supports measurements from 0% to 100% LEL, allowing users to monitor combustible gas levels across the full range and identify rising hazard conditions.
The combustible sensing technology is intended to reduce maintenance requirements over time. Because the sensor does not rely on consumable elements such as catalytic beads, which can degrade with repeated gas exposure, it may allow longer service intervals and lower recalibration requirements.
WirelessHART communication transmits combustible gas data in real time, allowing installation without additional power or signal wiring in remote or difficult-to-access areas. The update can be used alongside existing gas detection systems by supporting additional monitoring points in locations where hardwired installation may be difficult or costly.
