MSA has introduced the Observer i Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detector, an omni-directional acoustic detector that uses Gassonic ultrasonic technology to identify pressurized gas leaks in conditions where conventional gas detection can be limited by ventilation. The unit detects leaks from 2 bar (29 psi) and offers a detection range of up to 28 m, which can reduce the number of detectors needed in large or complex installations. It is intended for outdoor pipeline systems and other exposed environments because detection is not affected by wind, gas dilution or plume direction. The detector also uses Artificial Neural Network technology to distinguish leak noise from background noise without in-field training, while the patented Senssonic™ self-test supports fail-safe operation and simplified maintenance.
