Beckhoff’s Vision Unit Illuminated (VUI) is a compact machine vision unit that combines a camera, illumination and liquid lens focusable optics in one device. The VUI series has been expanded to include 16 new devices. Updates include additional functionality, image sensors and crossed polarizing filters.
The VUI is designed for industrial use in machine building and manufacturing. The product portfolio now includes 16 additional devices with Sony Pregius S image sensors. With resolutions of 5.1, 8.1 and 12.4 MP, the devices support applications including fast cycle rates and quality inspection tasks requiring measurement and detection accuracy.
The devices are also available with crossed polarizing filters. This supports additional applications by reducing surface reflections from the illumination. As a result, features can be captured with higher contrast and reduced reflections, including when images are acquired through shiny or transparent surfaces such as glass, plastic and water.
The VUI is part of the expanding Beckhoff Vision portfolio, which combines machine vision hardware and software with EtherCAT automation technology.
