Keyence Corporation of America has introduced the Keyence ER series inductive proximity sensor for industrial detection applications where impact, abrasion and contamination can affect sensor performance. The series includes an ultra-long-distance model with a detecting range up to four times that of conventional models, allowing installation farther from the target to help reduce physical damage and false detection caused by vibration or misalignment. The sensors use a pulse oscillation and dual-coil detection method that supports flush metal mounting and long-distance detection without interference from surrounding metal.
The ER series also includes all-metal models with a stainless steel detection surface for applications that require greater resistance to wear and environmental exposure. Available versions include general-purpose, compact, environment-resistant and weld-resistant models, with some versions rated to IP68G/IP69K and others using a ceramic coating to limit weld spatter adhesion. A 360-degree status indicator is built in to make operating status visible from multiple angles. The sensors are also designed to resist interference from metal debris and spatter during processing. In addition to ferrous targets, the series supports long-distance detection of non-magnetic metals such as aluminum, copper and stainless steel.
