Beckhoff has introduced TwinCAT for Linux which supports virtualized deployment of TwinCAT software applications in Linux environments. The TwinCAT PLC runtime and containerized TwinCAT functions can run on a local controller or in a data center. The EK1000 EtherCAT Coupler connects decentralized I/Os and maintains consistent communication throughout the system.
TwinCAT for Linux allows the TwinCAT automation software to run on the Linux operating system and supports distribution and operation in containerized environments. Its modular design enables individual applications to be deployed across multiple containers, allowing flexible implementation strategies. With ADS-over-MQTT technology, engineering system integration can be performed virtually through cross-network communication.
The virtual PLC allows control, simulation and test functions to be carried out in a local data center as well as on the machine.
