MANUFACTURED BY SEW-Eurodrive

Sew-Eurodrive has added the Sew-Eurodrive PxG economy series to Sew-Eurodrive PxG planetary servo gear unit portfolio, with three performance classes for machine builders and OEMs that need servo gear units for standard industrial automation applications.

The new Sew-Eurodrive P1.G, P2.G and P3.G gear units extend the PxG family below the Sew-Eurodrive P5.G, P6.G and P7.G precision range. The expanded portfolio lets customers select gear unit performance based on application needs rather than specifying higher precision, torque capacity or load capability than required.

Performance for standard automation

The PxG economy series is intended for applications with lower to medium technical requirements. Examples include packaging equipment, assembly machinery, material handling systems, carton erectors, gantry robots and machine tool portals.

Each performance class is intended for a different mechanical load range. P1.G is intended for standard applications with relatively low overhung loads. P2.G supports higher radial forces. P3.G combines straight gearing with higher-capacity bearings for applications that require more mechanical strength and lower cost.

Modular servo platform

The PxG economy series is available in five sizes with peak torque ratings from 11 to 500 Nm. The gear units are available in one- and two-stage configurations, have rotational clearance from 6 to 12 arcminutes and a rated service life of more than 20,000 hours.

The modular system includes solid-shaft designs with smooth, keyed or splined output options, depending on the performance class. Food-grade lubrication options and multiple mounting interfaces support use in different machine designs. The series is included in Sew-Eurodrive engineering tools, including SEW-Workbench, DriveCAD and DriveConfigurator, to aid selection and system design.

Benefits for machine builders

The PxG economy series adds optionsacross the servo portfolio by providing:

  • Lower-cost performance: Three performance classes for different applications help avoid over-specification.
  • Easier selection: Clear differences in load capacity and application range help match the gear unit to the machine.
  • Integration options: Mailable interfaces and with shaft and mounting options support new machine designs and drive replacements.
  • Rated service life: More than 20,000 hours of rated service life supports operation in automation applications.
  • Broader portfolio coverage: Customers can choose economy or precision options within the same PxG product family as requirements change.

Expanding portfolio coverage

The new economy range complements the existing PxG precision portfolio with a lower-cost option. Together, the economy and precision series give customers a broader range of planetary servo gear units within one modular platform.

The introduction of the PxG economy series adds to Sew-Eurodrive’s modular motion portfolio forOEMs that need to balance machine performance, system cost and operating requirements.
