To network enable Square D’s (LaVergne, Tenn.) power use monitoring capabilities, NetSilicon announced Oct. 10 it will provide its Net+Works device networking platform to Square D.
The firms say Net+Works’ system-on-a-chip platform will help Square D’s products improve energy efficiency by posting real-time power monitoring on the Internet. This will enhance users’ and organizations’ ability to monitor and control electricity usage.
NetSilicon’s integrated hardware and software solutions will provide network connectivity and local intelligence to Square D’s products, such as its PowerLogic circuit monitor. Once electricity use data is accessible on the Internet, it can be monitored and managed from anywhere. This will allow shared responsibility across entire companies, improving power conservation, costs and performance.
Net+Works’ architecture consists of software, hardware, real-time operating systems (RTOS), network protocols and servers, application programming interfaces (APIs), drivers, utilities, software development licenses, and comprehensive application engineering services. NetSilicon’s system-on-chip approach integrates the processor, MAC, I/O, timers and other components onto a single microprocessor. Square D added physical interface (PHY), memory (RAM, ROM), and an application software layer to complete the new system.
