Data I/O unveils automated programming system

Redmond, Wash. Data I/O Corp . announced that it has begun taking orders for the Universal GSM version of ProLINE-RoadRunner, an in-line automated FLASH programming solution. Designed for high volume electronics manufacturing, the system is the result of a joint development effort between Data I/O and Universal Instruments.

‘Universal is pleased to announce our working relationship with Data I/O’, said Brad Bennett, director of platform products at Universal. ‘We believe the relationship serves to enhance the flexibility of assembly options available to our customers as well as further promote the market acceptance of in-line programmable feeding systems.’

The RoadRunner delivers just-in-time programming of Flash memory devices, or integrated circuits (ICs), which are used extensively by many of Universal’s customers.

‘Universal Instruments systems ensure customers can run their electronics assembly operations according to real-time market demands. The RoadRunner can significantly improve profitability and time-to-market by providing a way to program the exact number of devices required by the production process without interrupting the flow of production and without having to maintain and manage inventories, i.e. JIT programming.’ said Dave Rohona, product marketing manager for ProLINE-RoadRunner. ‘Along with Data IO’s process control software, TaskLink for Windows, we provide a platform which allows programming job profiles (algorithm, data file and programming parameters) to be passed seamlessly from design through manufacturing to final configuration and even field maintenance. This lowers development costs and speeds time to market because the user does not have to setup the equipment at each stage of the manufacturing process.’
