Entivity partners with Phoenix Contact; saves steel firm $6.25 million

Chicago, IL -Entivity (Ann Arbor, MI) announced Oct. 22 that Phoenix Contact (Harrisburg, PA) will bundle PC-based solutions with Entivity’s software. In other news, Posco Iron Mill (Pohang, South Korea) described $6.25 million in savings resulting from upgrades to its steel operations, which included installation of Entivity’s software. Phoenix Contact and Entivity agreed to ”a major partnership involving joint product development, marketing, and sales for PC-based control solutions.” The partnership will combine Entivity’s VLC and Entivity Studio with Phoenix Contact’s PCs, Microsoft Windows CE-based computers, embedded controllers and I/O devices. Meanwhile, Han Ku Park, Posco’s rolling mill process control team project manager, says the steel mill’s total savings included 33% from using open standards and flowchart programming; 38% on hardware; and 30% in construction savings.
