Clifton Park, N.Y.— Sixnet’s EtherTrak combines I/O and an Ethernet connection in one unit. About the size of a fist, each EtherTrak unit is equipped with a RISC processor and 1/4 MB of memory, extending Ethernet to the field level. A single chip contains the TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/internet protocol) for each I/O unit. The six models available are specifically designed for discrete inputs (two models), 4-20 mA analog inputs, instrumentation inputs, combination I/O, or analog inputs and outputs. A separate Field Setup Module is needed to initially configure each EtherTrak module so it can communicate with the existing Ethernet network.
